Why does my mouse double-click when I click once?

Repeated double clicks from deliberate single presses can come from switch bounce, a worn microswitch, very aggressive debounce settings or remapping software. Test several slow single clicks and compare the behavior in another browser or computer.

What is mouse debounce and how does it affect double clicks?

Debounce is the delay or filtering used to ignore electrical bounce from a physical switch. Very low debounce can expose extra clicks, while higher debounce can reduce accidental doubles at the cost of a small amount of click latency.

How can I tell if a mouse switch is wearing out?

A worn switch often produces intermittent missed presses or unintended fast pairs during normal single clicking. Consistent failures across browsers, USB ports and systems are stronger evidence than one isolated double click.

What is the difference between a fast pair and a native double click?

A fast pair is our 300 ms timing check. A native double click is the browser's dblclick event, which also reflects platform/browser double-click behavior.
