What is an average human reaction time?
Simple visual reaction times are commonly measured in a few hundred milliseconds, but browser, display and input latency are included in an online result. Compare repeated runs on the same setup instead of treating one number as a biological measurement.
Why does my reaction time vary so much?
Sleep, attention, anticipation, display timing, mouse latency and random target delay all affect a run. Use several attempts and focus on your average or median rather than one exceptionally fast click.
Can monitor refresh rate affect reaction-time results?
Yes. The visual target can only be presented on a rendered frame, so a higher or more stable refresh rate can reduce part of the display-side delay included in a browser test.
What happens if I click before the target appears?
The round shows Too Soon and restarts without adding a result. Earlier completed rounds are preserved.
What happens if I do not click the target in time?
The target shrinks and disappears after its live window. That round is recorded as a miss and the next target is prepared automatically.
Why does this reaction test use a small target instead of a full green screen?
The target mode measures visual detection plus a small pointer response, which is more game-like and visually engaging. It should be compared with repeated runs of the same mode rather than laboratory reaction equipment.
