Speaker questions, fixes and result guides.
Practical answers for common speaker problems, confusing results and setup questions — with a direct path back to the live test.
How do I test left and right speakers separately?
Use the Left and Right controls with a comfortable system volume. If the browser does not support stereo panning, channel-isolation controls are disabled rather than pretending to isolate a side.
Why is sound coming from the wrong speaker?
The physical speakers or headphones may be connected in reverse, the operating system can have channel settings changed, or an audio interface can remap outputs. Compare another audio source to confirm the routing.
What test tone should I use for speakers?
A mid-frequency tone such as 1 kHz is easy to hear on most speakers, while lower and higher tones can reveal range or routing issues. Keep volume conservative, especially with headphones.
Why are the Left and Right buttons disabled?
The browser does not support the Web Audio stereo-panning feature required to isolate channels. The Both Speakers test can still play a centered tone.
Is the speaker test safe at high volume?
The tool uses conservative defaults and never autoplays. Keep your system volume comfortable, especially with headphones.
How accurate is this speaker tool?
Browser and operating-system audio routing may affect channel separation.
What should I do if the speaker result looks wrong?
Check system balance, output device selection and physical cable orientation. If stereo isolation is unavailable, try another modern browser or use the Both Speakers test.
