What is a good typing speed in WPM?
A useful typing score combines speed with accuracy. Around 40 WPM is often considered a practical everyday baseline, while higher scores are useful for writing-heavy work; compare yourself using the same test length and passage difficulty.
How is WPM calculated in a typing test?
A common convention treats five typed characters, including spaces, as one word. The test uses elapsed time to calculate raw WPM and reports accuracy separately so mistakes are not hidden by a fast score.
